General

The Scholarship includes:

  • university tuition fees
  • an annual stipend to cover board, lodging, and incidental expenses^
  • the UK Immigration Health Surcharge*
  • a standard economy airfare from the Scholar’s place of origin to London at the commencement of the scholarship, and for the return journey upon completion of the scholarship period. *

In addition to financial support, Jardine Scholars pursuing undergraduate studies will be offered an opportunity to apply for a summer internship at one of Jardines’ businesses , upon completion of Year 2 studies. All Scholars will also be offered mentoring opportunities, and be invited to join networking sessions.

Beyond financial assistance, the Foundation offers a comprehensive range of enrichment opportunities designed to foster the personal and professional growth of both current Scholars and alumni. Dedicated mentoring programmes connect Scholars with alumni and peers, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, guidance, and experience.

To support early career development, summer internships are available within Jardines' portfolio companies, providing Scholars with industry exposure. Throughout the year, regional networking events bring alumni together, strengthening connections and fostering a vibrant community.

In addition, the Jardine Scholars Council, which is run by students and funded by the Foundation, curates a lively social calendar for current Scholars at Oxford and Cambridge, offering an enriching experience and creating a “home away from home."

Entry requirements for the particular course are usually listed on the respective faculty website, and scholarships will only be offered to applicants who satisfy these requirements. 

Jardine Scholars are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic excellence, demonstrate a strong commitment to making a contribution to the community, and actively participate in the programmes and initiatives of the Foundation.


Undergraduate

Applicants must normally be within seven years of having completed secondary school education, at the date of entry to any one of our partner Colleges, and must:

  • have reached an academic standard to qualify for entry to one of the Colleges;

  • have been a national of or resident of Cambodia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam, for a period of at least 7 years. For applications from Singapore, male applicants must have either completed or be exempted from National Service. Generally, applications will not be accepted from candidates whose parents have not resided in such relevant country or territory for at least seven years prior to the proposed date of entry to University; and

  • be in a satisfactory state of health.

Applications will not be considered for a study programme leading to a second undergraduate degree or a study programme which is already being pursued.

Applications will not be considered from students who have already been awarded and accepted other full scholarships to study overseas at the time of application, and Scholars are generally not permitted to accept any other scholarships.

The academic requirements for the Scholarship are based on the entry requirements for the course being applied for, as listed on the relevant faculty webpage. Please visit the relevant course requirements page for details.

Yes, you are eligible to apply if you have lived in one of the 11 specified countries and territories for over 7 years, even if you do not hold a passport from that country.

It can be written by any teaching member or university counsellor, provided they know the applicant well. 

There is no set format for the letter, but ideally it should include academic highlights (touching both on strengths and any areas of concern), character, extra-curricular activities and/or other information that may support the application such as evidence of leadership ability, involvement with the school or wider community involvement. Please note the reference letter should include both a letterhead and your referee’s signature.

Postgraduate

Applicants must:

  • apply for the scholarships through one of the eight partner Colleges - see Scholarship Schemes tab;
  • have been a national of or resident of Cambodia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, for a period of at least 7 years;
  • be within the early stages of their career at the time of application; and
  • be in a satisfactory state of health.

You do not need to have already obtained an offer to study before you apply for a Jardine Scholarship, but Scholarships will only be made to applicants who do receive an offer from a relevant Oxford or Cambridge college, and you will be requested to submit a copy of your college offer letter, when it is available.

Yes, you are eligible to apply if you have lived in one of the applicable countries and territories for over 7 years.

While not mandatory, applicants are expected to have gained up to three years of work experiences, including but not limited to internships, freelance, volunteer work, or part-time employment.

For the standalone Jardine Postgraduate Scheme, application forms can be obtained and submitted through one of the admissions offices at our eight partner Colleges.

For the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, or the Jardine Oxford Graduate Scholarship Scheme, you should contact the relevant offices below for the application timeline, and further information.

The Jardine-CT Postgraduate Scheme, in partnership with the Cambridge Trust, is a jointly funded scheme. To be considered for this Scholarship, you may choose to indicate on your University application to the University of Cambridge, your wish to be considered for the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme. You will then be asked to submit a scholarship application prior to the funding deadline, if you have been shortlisted by the Trust.  While applicants are welcome to apply to both the standalone Jardine Scheme, and the jointly funded Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, applicants will be required to complete two separate applications.  For more information on the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, please visit the Cambridge Trust website or contact cambridge.trust@admin.cam.ac.uk.

The Jardine-Oxford Postgraduate Scheme, in partnership with the University of Oxford, is a jointly funded scheme. To be considered for this Scholarship, you must submit your graduate application to Oxford by the December or January course application deadline for your chosen course. If you meet the eligibility criteria for the scholarship, you will then be asked to submit a scholarship application prior to the funding deadline, if you have been shortlisted by the faculty.  While applicants are welcome to apply to both the standalone and the jointly funded Jardine Oxford Graduate Scholarship Scheme, applicants will be required to complete two separate applications.  For more information on the Jardine Oxford Graduate Scholarship Scheme, please write to Ms Katy Taheri-Royston at katy.taheri-royston@admin.ox.ac.uk and Mr Martyn Skoyles at martyn.skoyles@admin.ox.ac.uk

The reference can be written by a supervisor or director of studies (if you have left university recently) or a more senior colleague (if you are working). In both cases, this should be someone who knows you well, and is familiar with your academic or career development.

There is no required format, but they are welcome to include a short character reference, or describe the particular project(s) you have been involved with, and whether they relate to the course you are applying for. Please note the reference letter should include both a letterhead and your referee’s signature.

Yes, even if you have not applied to one of our partner colleges to study, you may still be eligible to apply for a Jardine Scholarship through one or more of our partner colleges. If your eligibility is confirmed by one of our partner colleges, you will need to submit the scholarship application to them directly.

Yes, if you are awarded a Scholarship, a college transfer to one of our partner colleges will be arranged.
