Jardine Oxford & Cambridge UG Scheme

Partnerships are in place with a number of colleges at both universities:

University of Cambridge – Downing, Magdalene, Peterhouse, Trinity
University of Oxford – Exeter, Oriel, The Queen’s, Trinity

Since 1982, Scholarships have been awarded to over 470 outstanding students from Cambodia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Students may apply for any course offered at our partner Colleges.  Applications may be made between 14th August 2026 and the submission deadline of 23rd October 2026.

1.      Eligibility
Applicants must normally be within seven years of having completed secondary school education, at the date of entry to any one of our partner Colleges, and must:

  • have reached an academic standard to qualify for entry to one of the Colleges;
  • have been a national of or resident of Cambodia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam, for a period of at least 7 years. For applications from Singapore, male applicants must have either completed or be exempted from National Service. Generally, applications will not be accepted from candidates whose parents have not resided in such relevant country or territory for at least seven years prior to the proposed date of entry to University; and
  • be in a satisfactory state of health.

Applications will not be considered for a study programme leading to a second undergraduate degree or a study programme which is already being pursued.
Applications will not be considered from students who have already been awarded and accepted other full scholarships to study overseas at the time of application, and Scholars are generally not permitted to accept any other scholarships.

Basis of selection
In making awards, the Scholarship Committee will take into account not only academic achievement and academic potential, but also the extent to which the applicant has demonstrated:-

  • leadership ability and potential; and 
  • commitment to community contribution.

Financial need will also be taken into account in considering applications.

2.      Tenure and conditions
Under the Undergraduate Scheme, scholarships may be awarded for a duration of three or four years to study for any subject offered by one of the Foundation’s partner colleges.

Scholarships are conditional upon the candidate being offered and taking up a place at one of the above partner Colleges. Scholarship awards will not be confirmed by the Scholarship Committee until the candidate has been accepted by one of the partner Colleges.

All Scholarship Awardees must abide by the Regulations Governing Scholarships.

3.      Required documentation:

  • A personal statement describing the applicant's objectives, aspirations, plans after graduation and particulars of extra-curricular activities, including sports, and their level of community involvement;
  • A recent passport-size photograph;
  • A copy of the completed UCAS application form; and
  • Copies of GCSE, A/AS Level and IB transcripts, or of equivalent qualifications under the examination system of the relevant country or territory, as and when available. These include, but are not limited to, HKDSE certificates, SPM or STPM certificates, and SKHU certificates.
  • A testimonial signed by the school principal or university counselor setting out:
    • The applicant’s achieved and/or predicted academic results;
    • Remarks which will assist the Scholarship Committee in its assessment; and
    • Any other relevant information for the application.

If the testimonial is submitted directly from the student’s secondary school, an email will be sent to the principal/referee requesting a reference letter and information on pending qualifications or predicted grades. Applicants will be required to provide the name and contact details of their principal/referee on the application form.

Jardine-HKU Scheme

In 2022, the Jardine Foundation established a partnership offering scholarships with the University of Hong Kong, with the aim of supporting access to higher education by students who are financially in need. The Scheme aims to nurture local students to be future leaders who are committed to giving back to their community.

UGM

Jardine-UGM Scheme

Since 2022, the Jardine Foundation has run a scheme in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada, offering undergraduate scholarships to students who are financially in need. The aim of the Scheme is to nurture local students to be future leaders who are committed to giving back to their community.

Postgraduate

Jardine Oxford & Cambridge PG Scheme

The Foundation seeks applications from postgraduate students who have been provisionally accepted to undertake postgraduate studies at either of the Universities and will be resident at one of the Foundation’s partner Colleges.

Applications can be obtained and submitted through:

  • one of the admissions offices at our eight partner Colleges (for the standalone Jardine Postgraduate Scheme);

  • the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, or the Jardine Oxford Graduate Scholarship Scheme (for a jointly-funded Jardine Scholarship). Please reach out to the relevant offices (details of which are below) for the application timeline, and further information.

 

The Jardine-CT Postgraduate Scheme, in partnership with the Cambridge Trust, is a jointly funded scheme. To be considered for this Scholarship, you may choose to indicate, on your University application to the University of Cambridge, your wish to be considered for the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme. You will then be asked to submit a scholarship application prior to the funding deadline, if you have been shortlisted by the Trust.  While applicants are welcome to apply to both the standalone Jardine Scheme, and the jointly funded Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, applicants will be required to complete two separate applications.  For more information on the Jardine Cambridge Graduate Scholarship Scheme, please visit the Cambridge Trust website or contact cambridge.trust@admin.cam.ac.uk.

The Jardine-Oxford Postgraduate Scheme, in partnership with the University of Oxford, is a jointly funded scheme. To be considered for this Scholarship, you must submit your graduate application to the University of Oxford by the December or January course application deadline for your chosen course. General information

Scholarships for postgraduate studies are for periods of up to four years. They are awarded only for full-time courses at the Universities, and will only be awarded if the applicant has already been accepted by one of the Foundation’s partner Colleges:

  • apply for a Jardine Foundation scholarship through one of the partner Colleges above;
  • have been a national of or resident of Cambodia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam, for a period of at least 7 years;
  • be within the early stages of their career at the time of application; and
  • be in a satisfactory state of health.

2.      Basis of selection
In making awards, the Scholarship Committee will take into account not only academic achievement and academic potential, but also the extent to which the applicant has demonstrated:-

  • leadership ability and potential; and 
  • commitment to community contribution.

Financial need will also be taken into account in considering applications.

3.      Value of scholarships
Each Scholarship awarded will generally be sufficient to cover fees, tuition, reasonable living expenses and travel expenses to and from the chosen educational establishment at the beginning and at the end of the course in respect of which the Scholarship is awarded.

The Scholarship will include:-

  • University tuition fees payable directly to the University;
  • College fees, payable directly to the College;
  • an annual stipend to cover board and lodging and all other incidental expenses (the stipend will be payable in three instalments each year, with the first instalment a larger sum to cover initial costs); 
  • the cost of the UK Immigration Health Surcharge; and
  • a standard economy class airfare to be reimbursed at cost to the Scholar from the place of residence to the United Kingdom at the beginning of studies, and for the return journey to the place of residence on completion of the Scholarship period.

Scholarships are conditional upon the candidate being offered and taking up a place at one of the above partner Colleges. Scholarship awards will not be confirmed by the Scholarship Committee until the candidate has been accepted by one of the partner Colleges.

All Scholarship Awardees are required to comply with the Regulations Governing Scholarships.

Jardine-Universitas Gadjah Mada & Institut Teknologi Bandung Scheme

The Foundation has established partnerships in conjunction with two leading universities in Indonesia - Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Each of UGM and ITB nominates each year suitable applicants from among its alumni or faculty for recommendation to the Foundation.

Jardine-Fulbright Scholarship Scheme

In 2025, the Foundation established a postgraduate partnership with Fulbright University Vietnam for students pursuing a Masters in Policy Analysis or Masters in Leadership Management programme. The purpose of the Scheme is to support access to further education by local Vietnamese students who are financially in need, and to nurture local talents to be future leaders who will give back to their society.
